Gary Doerr, 52, of New Prague and formerly of Jordan, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.

Funeral services for Mr. Doerr will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. from the Wagner Funeral Home in Jordan.

Doug Walden, 82, of Highlands, Texas and formerly of Shakopee, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 in Houston, Texas.

Asperger's syndrome was brought forth as a possible defense in the Craigslist murder case by defense attorneys during a hearing this week.

Attorney Alan Margoles said that Michael John Anderson has been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome and was "laboring under it" so that he "didn't know the nature of his actions or that they were wrong.”

The U.S. Senate race recount has already started in other areas of the state, including neighboring Carver County, but Scott County’s ballots won’t be hand-counted until Dec. 3.

Counties in charge of their own recount were able to select which day they will conduct it. Carver County chose Wednesday, the first day possible.

A Swiss Mountain resident reported that her vehicle parked in her driveway was stolen on Oct. 29. The perpetrator not only stole the car, but came into the home through the open garage door, taking a purse and laptop computer.  The car was recovered in Minnetonka on Oct. 31 by a Southlake Police officer. The resident reminds others to keep garage doors closed and doors locked.
