Buy a product in Carver County, and you'll save money over buying it in Hennepin County. Take, for instance, an item at a Chanhassen retailer priced $44.99. After the sales tax of 6.5%, it costs $47.91. If you buy the exact same thing for the same price at the Eden Prairie branch of that store, the price is $48.09 after the 6.9% sales tax.
What could be done with the 18 cents you'd save? Maybe nothing immediately, but we all know what happens when spare change gets thrown into a piggy bank. It sits there until more spare change is dropped in and eventually becomes the kid's first bank deposit, or a portion of their allowance, or a reward for a tooth under the pillow. At least that's how some parents used to do it. Maybe these days kids don't deal in change. Maybe they only accept paper currency.
But just think of the money you'd save when purchasing a big-ticket item, like a computer, television, etc.
