Local meteorologist questions 'squishy science'

Filed under:

Longtime WCCO-TV meteorologist Mike Fairbourne says that the environmental movement is practicing "squishy science" when it ties human activity to global warming, the Star Tribune reports. See the story at http://www.startribune.com/nation/19095579.html?page=1&c=y

Former Minnetonka School Board member Bill Wenmark sent a similarly themed letter to members of the Minnesota legislature. See contents below.

The Honorable Governor Tim Pawlenty

Tim,

Cc: Members, Minnesota Legislature

Please do not subject Minnesota to the Climate Change recommendation that came from your Commission. http://www.globalclimatescam.com/?p=88 They are flawed. They are created by a "cookie cutter" approach of the group the State hired as consultants, Enterprising Environmental Solutions, Inc., Center for Climate Strategies from Harrisburg, PA. The state paid $40,000 or 50% of the cost of this predetermined report: http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080514/OPINION01/805...

This report is an attempt to put teeth to the Statewide Greenhouse Gas Statutes 216H.01 – 06. They are a front for many NGO activist groups well know to the scientist community (see media advisory below) who know the earth will warm and cool...but man is not the cause.

Man can continue the success we have enjoyed with intellectual genius and technological advancements that have made the United State of America the cleanest and most productive country on the face of this beautiful Earth. With this human capacity we can prepare/protect vulnerable populations and geographic regions from the heating and the cooling by many more effective means than putting Americans and Minnesotan's in electric cars, trains, and taxing them as a carbon unit of CO2 contamination.

Global warming and cooling has been going on long before political parties and their NGO put their nose under this tent. (Science, 10 August 2007, p. 746). For example, great, heat-carrying currents like the Gulf Stream can slow down and speed up, cooling and warming surrounding continents. As a result, temperatures rise and fall from decade to decade even in the absence of human interference. Further in Science: Looking into the future, the model forecasts a slowing of heat-carrying Atlantic currents and thus a cooling over the North Atlantic, North America, and Western Europe in the next decade. It even predicts a slight cooling of the globe. But by 2030, forecast global temperatures bounce back up to the warming predicted with greenhouse gases alone.

Significantly, in a letter to Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, Chairman, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, IPCC, Worldwide Scientist’s wrote in part; “There is no observational evidence in measured data going back 22,000 years or even millions of years that CO2 (whether from man or nature) have driven or are driving world temperatures or climate changes.” “If you believe there is evidence of CO2 driver theory in the available data please present a graph of it.”

How many scientists does it take to establish that a consensus does not exist
on global warming? OISM “Petition Project.” How about 31,072 of them? http://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/al_gore_global_warming/2008/05/19/97307...

The Earth will continue to warm and cool long after we are gone. This “blame man” climate change is nothing more than another attempt by despots to gain control of natural resources in order to regulate all human behavior. This is not FREEDOM. This is not the United States of America.

Personal Regards,

Bill
