What should new mascot be?

Chanhassen Mapleleafs, Chanhassen Storm (Chanhassen Weather Station), Chanhassen Coyotes, Chanhassen Chargers .... These are some of the names being bandied about the newsroom for the new Chanhassen High School mascot. A "Chanhassen High School Spirit Committee" will be coming up with a list of finalists for students to vote on. What do you think should be on the list?

Great idea for a forum. I like Coyotes. It's original and there are coyotes around here. You could even add an adjective like "Ramblin'" before it. Chanhassen Rambling Coyotes.

We had a moose in town this year,  too, but that doesn't necessarily mean that would be a good name. Chanhassen Plodding Moose? I don't think so.

Though the sketch of the Fightin' Maple Leaf is pretty menacing, I'm not too sure it would strike fear in the hearts of opposing sports teams.

I personally like the Chanhassen Storm. It not only makes reference to the National Weather Service in town, but perhaps the 1965 tornado and the intense rainfalls of fall 2005.

I envision a football helmet with a single bolt of lightning across it - much like the San Diego Chargers' uniform (one of the best uniforms in the NFL, in my humble opinion).

My other option would be the Chanhassen Reds (referring to the city's traditional rightward political leanings and its old baseball team the Chanhassen Red Birds).

I Proposse the name of Chanhassen's old Baseball team. Check your history books, some of these guys that played on the team are still alive and going strong. What a great tribute too name the team after them:
