I would like to thank everyone who came to the True Ghost Stories at the Strait House event.
I didn’t sleep much last night because I was worried about the event. I was hoping that it wouldn’t be a flop and that we would have a decent crowd. The day started out a bit chilly but it warmed up to a very nice day. Not to hot, not to cold. Perfect for hiking after the event.
We arrived about 20 min’s early to set up our things, but as we entered the house we found that the box elders and the cannibal ladybugs had moved in before we got there. Oh if I had known this I would have sprayed the house the night before and got there early to clean up the bodies. I was stressed out as it was, but now I had to run home for a broom and shovel and it was only minutes away from the time for the people to arrive!
When I returned, we quickly started sweeping up the bugs between the arrival of the people, We got about 80% of them and I was flustered, so I ended up not starting my talk on the right foot and starting my talk late, but I did the best I could. Hopefully no one noticed. I was also disappointed that the speakers on my laptop were not as loud as I hoped for, but I did the best I could. I talked about our adventures and each of the members that came also told some of their stories. Jack demonstrated the thermo camera in another room.
We served cookies and pop, which we made sure the lids were closed so no bugs could get in and as favors I made little ghost frig magnets. As door prizes we handed out 3 ghost books, and 3 snowmen knickknacks.
We had quite a bit of interest for our raffle and there is still time for people to try for that. The drawing will be held on Oct 31.
Tickets are 2.00 each or 3 for 5.00.
1st prize is being a guest ghost hunter,
2nd prize is a reading from Linda,
3rd prize is a ghost hunting class.

I had found out some disturbing news. It looks like the parks dept really needs help. The Strait house seems to take quite a bit of their budget keeping it heated during the winter. Our little event did help the parks dept a little and for those who paid the 5.00-parking fee, I have to tell you it was greatly appreciated. I am tossing around an idea of doing a Strawberry Social in the spring to help out.
There must be a way to help our cherished landmarks and to keep them active. It is up to the public to also participate when events at them happen.
Our group has been quite blessed this year with donations. This wasn’t a money donation but equipment donations. I did tell you about the thermo camera; we also received 2 lap top computers, all which were greatly needed. Having a laptop now allows me to be mobile for the classes. Now instead of coming to my house, I can go to the people’s houses for classes. This will make them more comfortable. I am starting to schedule classes for anyone who is interested. Once again, you can contact me and I will send you the details.
All in all I have to say that we had a very good time and I enjoyed meeting the people who attended the event. Thank you
I also wanted to thank the members who helped me. Their help was greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
