The Truth-in-Taxation hearing has been set for Monday, December 3, at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
The 2008 preliminary levy was set on September 10, 2007 at $9,854,965, which is $279,187 higher than the 2007 final levy. This is the maximum levy the City can set; however, the Council has the ability to reduce the levy when it is finalized on December 10.
The net effect of the increased preliminary levy on the average property owner will be a 1.1% increase to the city portion of their property tax bill. Your input is welcomed and encouraged at any of the budget meetings taking place in November, and at the Truth-in-Taxation Hearing on December 3.
If you have any questions regarding the budget or the budget process, feel free to contact Finance Director Greg Sticha at 952-227-1149 or gsticha@ci.chanhassen.mn.us.
