Was it a good season or disappointing for the Viking?

Busted!

Just when we were almost through a Minnesota Vikings season without much controversy, defensive end Darrion Scott was cited on Wednesday for misdemeanor marijuana possession, according to news reports.

He played in four games this season for the Vikings before going on injured reserve with a foot injury.

How will Brad Childress and Ziggy Wilf respond? How should they respond?

When it came time to show

When it came time to show that the Minnesota Vikings are for real, the team crumbled under pressure last Sunday night.

Long-suffering Vikings fans who shelled out big bucks to be at the game were treated to a blow-out.

So now there's one game left, and the Vikings need a win and a Washington loss to get into the playoffs.

Do we hope they get to the playoffs, so we can be prolong the inevitable?

A win is a win, and five

A win is a win, and five wins in a row is hard to argue against.

However, I'm left wondering what happened to the Vikings that we watched destroy San Diego and New York.

Coach Childress is a psychology major, so I'm wondering if he's playing head games with the rest of the NFL.

Is he experimenting with the Vikings, so they do just enough to win these games without looking exceptional in hopes that the rest of the teams in the league will underestimate the Vikings?

I know he can't control whether or not Tarvaris Jackson throws interceptions or sees open receivers, or if the defense creates turnover. But I'm wondering if there's an 'A' list of plays that we use when we play good teams and a 'B' list of plays that we use against teams that aren't very good.

What do you think?

Boredom against the 49ers

The Vikings won in unimpressive fashion against a terrible team. Four wins in a row is good enough.

We're making a run toward the playoffs. Anybody going to the game against the Bears on Sunday?

Good game. I have to say TJack looked like a solid QB today. Hope that continues. And that shake-and-bake by AP on the touchdown run was one of the better moves I've seen.

Vikings back in the hunt

Just like that, the Vikings are back in the hunt for a playoff spot, thanks to solid play from T. Jackson, A. Peterson, and A. Allison.

In their commanding win over Detroit, the team looked explosive for the first time since Randy Moss was wearing a Vikings jersey.

No blackout

Will the Vikings' defense be Kitnatized like they were last time Detroit Lions quarterback Jon Kitna picked them apart?

We'll all have the chance to watch, as the game won't be blacked out from local television. Three corporate sponsors stepped up to purchase the remaining Vikings tickets.

It will be broadcast on KMSP (Ch.9), as KMSP joined U.S. Bank and Superclean/Factory Value Parts to buy the 2,100 remaining tickets, according to a Star Tribune report.

The Vikings have two more home games, Dec. 17 against Chicago and Dec. 23 against Washington.

Blackout looming

More than 3,000 tickets remain for the Vikings-Lions matchup in the Metrodome on Sunday, which means the Vikings are once again facing a blackout. Sunday's game is scheduled to air locally on KMSP Channel 9, but only if all tickets are sold by noon Thursday.

Vikings knock Giants down

Vikings knock Giants down to size

Wow. Fans have been waiting all year for Tarvaris Jackson to step up and play like a professional quarterback, and against the Giants he did.

Wouldn't you say?

Even with Chester Taylor not rushing for very many yards, because the Vikes had a passing game, they were able to move the ball down the field.

Jackson only has 129 yards passing in the fourth quarter, but he has thrown one touchdown and no interceptions. It's not like he's awesome, but he's making good decisions.

How important is the matchup against the Lions next week? Anybody planning to be at the game?

The Vikes got a win.

Any comments?

It's not like they were impressive. I mean the Raiders are not a good team, and Tarvaris Jackson still didn't even pass for over 200 yards.

As Mark Craig says in the Star Tribune, "Whoop-de-stinking-doo."

"Two plays in the first half overshadowed anything else Jackson did while playing indoors against a lousy opponent at home. First, Jackson floated an interception into double coverage in the end zone on first-and-goal from the 3-yard line early in the first quarter. Then, with 53 seconds left in the half, he held the ball far too long, got clobbered and fumbled it away."

What's Jackson going to do against the NY Giants? The Giants lead the NFL in sacks with 34.

Sunday the 3-6 Vikings play the 2-7 Oakland Raiders at the Metrodome.

"Plenty of good seats are available," mentions Mark Craig in the Star Tribune.

It's a great column and can be found at http://www.startribune.com/101/story/1546299.html

Vikings football

The Minnesota Vikings are facing a blackout, due to lack of ticket sales for their opening game. What a way to begin the season for the Minnesota Vikings.

The NFL has granted the team a 24-hour extension to sell out Sunday’s season-opener against Atlanta. The team announced this morning that it has 1,700 tickets remaining.

Do you plan to attend? Will you watch? Why? What are the Vikings' prospects this season?

I'll be in outstate Minnesota on family business, so hopefully I won't be subject to a television blackout.
