In partnership with Second

In partnership with Second Harvest Heartland, Love INC will hold their second Free Food Distribution on Tuesday, July 15 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Chanhassen.

Second Harvest has found this to be an effective means to supplement the food available from local food shelves. At the Food Distribution sponsored in April, 250 families each received over 100 pounds of food and other household products.

Discovery United Methodist Church has three
time slots available for volunteers: Setup:
1:00-3:30 pm, Distribution: 4:30-7:30 pm,
and Clean-up: 7:30-8:30 pm.

If interested, call Doug at 952-448-2508.

Says Elaine Larson of Bishop

Says Elaine Larson of Bishop Gomez: "The first time I met Bishop Gomez was in August of 2004. We were waiting at Resurrection Church in San Salvador for the Bishop to arrive to conduct a service. It was the middle of the morning on a Thursday. Others waiting with our team were the homeless and street people of the area where the church is located. After the service a special meal of a bit of chicken , rice and a tortilla was to be served at Hope House, where meals are served 4 times a week for people in need. When the bishop came in all of the homeless folks we were with jumped to their feel and went to the Bishop. He hugged each of them and called them by name. The look of love and compassion in his face told me he was a very special man. It was a very touching and inspiring moment for me and the rest of the group. Each of the three times we have been to El Salvador he has taken time out of his busy schedule to meet with our group and to share his concerns for his country and our country. He has travelled to the U.S. to meet with senators and representatives in Washington on issues that affect Central America. Bishop Gomez lives what Christ has called us to be in his love for kindness, his humility and his compassion for the poor."

A group from Living Christ

A group from Living Christ Lutheran Church in Chanhassen will be making a mission trip June 28-July 5 to Mexico.

The group will consist of three adults and seven high school students. They will travel to Ysleta Lutheran Mission in El Paso, TX. They will be working on several construction projects at Iglesia Luterana Cristo Rey, which is a church located in a neighborhood of Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. They will also be serving in a low income/poverty stricken area of El Paso, TX called the colonias.

"This will be a life changing event not just for those going on the mission trip but also to those this team comes in contact with. Our group would appreciate prayers for safe travel, overcoming the language barrier, safety, and that we may develop disciples equipped to impact the world for Christ. Any questions about this mission trip can be addressed to Mike Millington, Living Christ Lutheran Church, 820 Lake Drive, Chanhassen, MN 55317 (952)934-5110 www.livingchrist.org or email, mikem@livingchrist.org "
