In order to keep this short

In order to keep this short I will be blunt.

Those who oppose the Stiens in thier effort to put up a windmill are engaging in fascist behavior. Fascism is where people own thier property, but others tell them what they can and cannot do with said property.

As I write this (winter 09) there are thousands without electric power in the Ohio valley. The past number of years the papers are filled with stories of huge numbers of people going without power for days at a time. The writing on the wall. It is an excelent idea to have your own windmill.

Should the Steins have a windmill up and running, they face the very real danger of having to fend off neighbors, most likely the very same neighbors who opposed thier windmill, from gaining entry to thier warm dry home during a winter brown out. These neighbors who already believe it is O K to tell the Steins what they can do on thier property, will surely believe it also O K for them to force entry into the Steins home. After all, these neighbors already know that they can tell the Steins what to do with thier property, so they just take the next step and force entry. Too far fetched? No it's not.

Hats off to the steins for engaging in thoughtful plans for thier future.

As an aside, James Howard Knutsler has written that city codes will be unenforcable as we travel futher into the crushing economy we are now experiencing. So there is some hope for the Steins to prevail with their ideas.

PattiD

This is a great nation in which we have unlimited rights. Maybe just not enough common sense. The idea is sound, but did you ever stop to think of the isore, noise and resale value of your whole neighborhood? City council, this is one place to protect the needs of others.

By Forrest Adams

A Chanhassen family was disappointed earlier this summer when they found out the residential wind turbine they wanted to put in their backyard was forbidden by city code.

Nancy and Larry Stein said they were ready to install the 30-foot tower with a 12-foot diameter blade right smack in the middle of their backyard until they ran into a blockade- the city code.
