Johnson finished in second place. She'll have to wait to the end of the quarterfinals to see if her score is good enough to move on.

Beth Hoiseth said on

Beth Hoiseth said on Wednesday afternoon this is the first in what will amount to "a series of public safety seminars" through the year.

"People become a little too relaxed," she said. "Serious crime can happen anywhere. With this we want to generate awareness. Low crime doesn't mean no crime."

What about the Jimmy Johns out at 5 and 41 - will that one move to Market Street Station or exist in addition to the new one?

Apparently Kelsey fell off

Apparently Kelsey fell off the planet after it was overused 18 years ago. Without consulting a "popular" list, my former husband and I named our daughter Kelsey, only to learn the popularity of the name when we enrolled her in preschool -- she was one of six Kelseys. Oddly enough, all but one of them was blonde.

Monday night I was traveling

Monday night I was traveling north on Galphin Blvd. Straight ahead of us, my daughter and I saw what we thought was a shooting star at first. As it continued to burn in the sky, I realized this was not a shooting star. It appeared to come down north of the Longacres neighborhood. I lost sight of it as it disappeared behind the tree tops. It was a beautiful yellow and green twinkling streak in the sky.

According to

According to Space.com:

This weekend brings us the return of the famous Leonid Meteor Shower, a meteor display that in recent years has brought great anticipation and excitement to skywatchers around the world.

Solely from the standpoint of viewing circumstances, this will be a favorable year to look for these meteors, since the Moon will be at first quarter phase and will have set in the West long before the constellation Leo (from where the meteors get their name) has climbed high in the sky.

Yes, I saw it too.

Yes, I saw it too.

I was heading north on Powers Blvd (south of Hwy 5) at 7:40pm (the same time I leave my neighborhood every Monday night) and in the north direction I saw a very bright light that then turned green. So I just chalked it up as being fireworks. But, now that you say that you have seen it too, I am a litte more curious.

Oh, yes. Power tools being used in the hotel by guests is a most disturbing thought. It's something I'd imagine would be written into a Quentin Tarrantino movie script. But then again, the noises are probably coming into the hotel rooms from nearby construction or building sites.

Does it bother anybody else that people are using power tools in their hotel rooms???? Everything else seems to be a better fit with uses for a hotel room - why are people bringing power tools on vacation and what the heck are they doing with them???
