There are no bullet holes left as proof that notorious gangster John Dillinger once inhabited Apartment 303 at the Lincoln Court Apartments in St. Paul.
The value of items stolen from vehicles in Carver County so far in 2009 already exceeds previous years, prompting the Carver County Sheriff's Office to issue a warning.
"There is no sure way of protecting yourself from becoming a victim, but you can protect your valuables. Take time to (1) remove all valuables from your vehicles, (2) secure windows and doors; and (3) If parked in the garage, make sure garage doors are down and secured (even then, do not leave valuables in your vehicles.)"

The Chaska Police Department released this statement pertaining to the emergency sirens that went off this morning:
"The outdoor warning sirens were activated in Chaska moments ago. This was a false alarm. The county is aware…
"The City of Chanhassen is in control of a remote device, which activates the sirens; indeed, the sirens were activated without a legitimate cause. Chanhassen wrongly activated the warning sirens for the cities of Chaska, Victoria, and Watertown. Perplexingly the sirens did not sound in Chanhassen.

Has your 401(k) diminished to the point where you're thinking about cutting your loses and pulling out of the market? What are your stories in this economy?

Here's the beginning of a review of Na's Thai Cafe, written by a Twin Cities blogger.
"I had a hankerin’ for Thai food today and I checked out the nearby Thai restaurants. There was a place a short distance away (actually, I had no idea how far away it was since I’ve never been to Chanhassen), and I figured I’d race out of work at lunch and see how it was. It had some good reviews online..."

Have you noticed any D-shaped escape holes in the side of your ash trees? It's a sign the tree is infected with the emerald ash borer. As of this writing, there are no signs of the deadly bug in Chanhassen, but City Forester Jill Sinclair said over the course of the next year she would develop a plan that could be implemented if it ever gets here.
"The bug lays its eggs on the bark of ash trees. The larva bores into live wood and emerges as an adult, leaving a D-shaped exit hole in the dying tree," according to Minnesota Conservation Volunteer.

What do the historic church building downtown and the city's animal ordinance have in common? Both topics were centerpoints of discussion at the Monday, June 22, 2009, Chanhassen City Council meeting.
Greetings,
It's officially summer. Enjoy the heat and humidity this week. Right now the total monthly precipitation for Chanhassen is 2.31 inches. With the threat of severe weather in the forecast, I don't think we can count on a nice, slow, soaking rain any time soon. In June, the monthly average is a little over 4 inches. We may get some rain this week to boost the total amount, but there's a good chance we'll end up behind the average at the end of the month next week.
Youth from St. Hubert's Church and School will be volunteering in Chanhassen from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 19.
A group will meet at the fountain in City Center Park and work with city staff to clean and spruce up City Center Park and the City Center Plaza area. Another group will meet at the Lake Ann Park maintenance building to work with staff and clean out and mulch a large planting bed surrounding the front of the building.
According to a June 18 report in the St. Peter Herald, "A 30-year old Chanhassen man faces felony drug charges for allegations he sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant on April 14 in a St. Peter convenience store parking lot."
The alleged meth dealer is Eric Peter Christensen. He has been charged in Nicollet County District Court with felony counts of first degree sale and second degree possession of meth.
More than a dozen fire departments were needed to contain a building fire in St. Louis Park on Saturday. According to Firehouse.com, "Early reports indicated the fire started in a grill on a top floor deck at the Glen Brook Apartments."
The fire was brought under control in about an hour and damaged approximately 80 units. The building did not have a sprinkler system. Nine firefighters and two residents suffered a variety of minor injuries.
They're in PDF format, so you'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open them.
