The following obituary is from the Sept. 11, 2008 print edition of the Chanhassen Villager newspaper:

William Hathaway

 

William Hathaway, 86, of Chanhassen, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008 at his residence.

Memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hill Presbyterian Church, 145 Engler Boulevard, Chaska, with the Rev. Gordon Stewart officiating. The inurnment will be at a later date at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Marietta, Ohio.

William was born May 31, 1922 in Marietta, Ohio, to William and Jennie (Thompkins) Hathaway. He was a veteran of the United States Navy as a World War II pilot. On Feb. 1, 1947 he married Maxine Samelson in Chicago, Ill. They had two children, Bill and Ann.

William is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Maxine; son and daughter-in-law, Bill Hathaway and Allison Halsey of Annapolis, Md.; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Phil Hansen of Chaska; grandchildren, Geoffrey Hansen, Gregory Hansen, Halsey Hathaway, Daniel Hathaway; great-grandchildren, Nolan Hansen, Bryce Hansen, Derek Hansen, Martin Hansen, Brianna Hathaway Sabol.

Memorials are preferred to the Ridgeview Hospice.

Funeral arrangements were with the Bertas Funeral Home of Chaska, 952-448-2137.
