Fall colors already?

The morning temperatures sure feel like autumn, and several trees around the city are beginning to change colors, including this one inside Lake Ann Park. Look at a changing tree beside Powers Blvd. here.

Zebra mussels zero in on area lakes

Last summer zebra mussels were discovered in Prior Lake and this summer in Lake Minnetonka, sandwiching the communities of Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, Victoria, Chaska and Shakopee.

What's in Lotus Lake?

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is on Lotus Lake this week surveying the lake's fishery. Based on the DNR fish survey in 2004, Lotus ranked among the best walleye lakes in the Twin Cities. On the second day of research, DNR researchers said the lake's walleye population seems "on track."
