Fatal crash on 212 near Carver

The Minnesota State Patrol has released the names of the individuals involved in a fatal crash on Highway 212 just outside of Carver Thursday morning.

Luallen Kettner, 73, of Chaska was the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed 47-year-old construction flagger Leo Kuisle, of Stewartville.

The incident occurred just before 7 a.m. Thursday on Highway 212 near Mount Hope Road.

According to the State Patrol, the flagger was holding a stop sign when he was struck by Kettner's 2004 Ford Excursion SUV.

Traffic was diverted for three hours following the incident. Highway 212 was closed from new Co. Rd. 147 north to Co. Rd. 43 until 10 a.m. when Minnesota State Patrol wrapped up their site investigation.

UPDATE: The incident occurred just before 7 a.m. when an SUV driver westbound on Highway 212 struck and killed a flagger.

According to the State Patrol, the flagger was holding a stop sign at the time of the crash.

The State Patrol has yet to identify the driver or the victim but other media sources are reporting that the driver was 73 years old and the flagger was a 47-year-old contract employee for MnDOT.
