Auction chair reported stolen

It happened last year; it’s happened again.

One of the Adirondack chairs that is set to be auctioned during the Victoria Volksfest celebration on Saturday, Aug. 28 was reported stolen.

Deb McMillan of the Southwest Metro Chamber of Commerce sent an e-mail to the Chamber’s membership alerting everyone of the missing chair.

John Lind, a Swedish-born immigrant, was elected as Minnesota's 14th
governor in 1899. During his lifetime John Lind was a school teacher,
superintendent of Brown County schools, a New Ulm lawyer, and land
agent. John Lind was also the first Swedish-born American to be elected
to the United States Congress, president of the University Board of
Regents, diplomatic representative to Mexico, and Minnesota Governor.

Chinese religious artifacts

Photo by Forrest Adams: These statues of Buddha, dragons, and wise sages are for sale from a vendor near the Great Wall of China. They reveal several aspects of China’s diverse religious heritage. Buddhism is said to have spread into China from India through Buddhist priests in ancient years and developed a Chinese face between the 3rd and 6th centuries AD. Chinese Buddhism integrates the ideas of Confucianism and Taoism.
