A search for the headwaters

Fred Huber, Chanhassen, alleges the true beginning of Purgatory Creek is near this Minnetonka location west of County Road 101. Lotus Lake residents and the DNR disagree. They claim it's Lotus Lake.

There’s a discrepancy over where Purgatory Creek begins. Some people claim it’s in Chanhassen, others say Minnetonka.

Contemporary labels used by the watershed district and the state department of natural resources fall on the side of those who claim it’s Chanhassen.

Video: 'Bye Bye Monster' helps with children's nighttime fears

It’s common for children ages 3 to 8 to develop nighttime fears. They might imagine their lamp growing arms, legs and fangs. They might imagine that one of their toys has come to life – or that there’s a monster in their room.
While the monsters might not be real, the fears behind them are, according to the founders of “Your Thyme,” and authors of "Bye Bye Monster," Mary Horan of Shakopee and Kelly Lucente of Plymouth.

Victoria administrator announces run for Congress

Steve Sarvi, Victoria city adminstrator, former Watertown mayor,  and  Iraq war veteran, announced  that he is running for U.S. Congress. He will run for the seat in Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District currently occupied by Rep. John Kline. Sarvi announced his candidacy Thursday, 10 a.m. at the State Capitol in St. Paul.
