City watermains are flushed twice a year in April and October, in order to remove mineral deposits that have accumulated in the water pipes.

Flushing will occur between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, beginning on Oct. 1. 

Homeowners may experience rusty water or other problems during flushing. Limiting water use between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. will help to reduce the amount of rusty water drawn into your home.

If you do experience rusty water, running the cold water tap after 2 p.m. will clean out your system. Call the Utility Department at 952-227-1301 if you have a problem related to flushing that does not clear up within 48 hours.
