STATE TRAFFIC DEATHS HIT 100-MARK YEAR-TO-DATE

NINE DAYS: 10 TRAFFIC DEATHS, NINE NOT BUCKLED UP

  ST. PAUL — A high-speed roll-over traffic crash around midnight Thursday that killed two motorists — both unbelted and ejected — highlights a trend on Minnesota roads that concerns traffic safety officials: unbelted nighttime traffic deaths.

According to a Star Tribune report, police arrested a Chaska man Monday night in the death of a 62-year-old man staying at a Fridley inn where he was beaten to death last week.

Capt. James Steward of the Anoka County Sheriff's office said the Chaska man apparently had tried to sell crack cocaine to the victim and two others staying at the Live-In Suites, near 57th Street and Central Avenue in Fridley.

A 21-year-old Bloomington man with a criminal history of burglary is now behind bars.

Kyle Douglas Stellick appeared in Carver County Court on Feb. 20, and was charged with burglary, theft and damage to property, each charge a felony. He is also facing a gross-misdemeanor damage to property charge.
