Chaska and pitcher John Straka was successful in quieting down the red-hot baseball bats of Apple Valley on Monday.

Problem was, the Eagles hushed the Hawks' bats more.

Valley scored a 1-0 victory at Athletic Park, behind a two-hit shutout by Justin Radde.

Straka allowed six hits, and yielded the Eagles just a third-inning run while striking out four. Radde fanned five, allowing a hit to only Cory Glieden and Adam Peterson.

Minnetonka's boys tennis team hosts Prior Lake in the quarterfinals of the Section 2AA team tournament on Tuesday. The match begins at 4 p.m. at the MHS courts.

Girls lacrosse players in Section 6 know their squad has to get past perennial state champion Eden
Prairie to reach the state tournament.

The Hawks start the Section 6 playoffs on Monday, May 12 as the fifth section seed against No. 4 seed Hopkins. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Royals’ field.

A Chaska win would mean a certain semifinal game against Eagles. EP plays the winner of eighth seed St. Cloud Tech and ninth seed Robbinsdale Cooper, which play on Saturday.

The Southwest Christian High School softball and baseball teams played Bethany Academy on adjoining fields at the Dred Scott complex in Bloomington.
The Stars baseball team fell 5-4 and the softball team prevailed 15-2.

The Chaska Area Youth Volleyball Association had 10 teams competing in the final NCR Area Event tournament on April 26-27.

Legacy Park, the new softball complex at Minnetonka High School, was to be the center of a dedication celebration on Saturday. But the wet weather has pushed back the festivities to Saturday, May 10.

Chaska was to play the Skippers at 2 p.m., following a dedication ceremony.

The Hawks had their Friday game at Eagan postponed to May 6.
