Minnetonka Swim Club member David Plummer won the men's 100 backstroke on Wednesday at the U.S. Long Course Nationals in Irvine, Calif.
Plummer edged out Olympic gold medalist and current world-record holder Aaron Peirsol by three-hundredths of a second. Plummer finished in 53.60 seconds to Peirsol's 53.63.
Plummer's time was the sixth-best in the world this year. Peirsol had not lost a 100 backstroke race since 2008.
Chanhassen just wants to keep on playing baseball.
The Red Birds amateur baseball team advanced in the River Valley League Central Division playoffs with a 6-3 victory at LeSueur on Thursday night.
The Chanhassen Red Birds amateur baseball team polished off a two-night playoff battle with a 4-2 victory over Henderson on Wednesday.
Chan continues the River Valley League Central Division playoffs with a game tonight (Thursday, July 29) at LeSueur. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Bruce Frank Field.
The Red Birds and Tigers began its playoff battle on Tuesday, but rain halted the game with Chan up 1-0 in the fifth inning.

The 2010 Chaska River City Days Triathlon went a lot like the 2009
edition.
But just a little bit faster.
A pair of Chaskans repeated as overall champions on a sunsplashed
Saturday morning at Firemans Park, in the kickoff event for the upcoming
River City Days festivities.
Chaska native Nick Madrinich repeated as the men's overall champion,
finishing a second faster than his 1:10 time last year.
The Chanhassen Red Birds amateur baseball team is sitting pretty in third place in the River Valley League's Central Division.
And there's two more chances to see the new team in its new stadium this weekend.
The Red Birds host Fairfax at 7:30 p.m. tonight (Friday, July 16) at the Chanhassen High School field.
Victoria then visits for a 6 p.m. game on Sunday. The Red Birds will celebrate their comeback season with Fan Appreciation Night.
Sponsors will have prizes and fun in store for the fans.
TCYR members fare well at Chicago regatta

A pair of sports activities offered in collaboration with professional sports franchises, the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Timberwolves, will fill out the city’s Fourth of July celebration this year.
The summer of 2010 marks the 50th year the Minnesota Twins and the Twins Community Fund have offered free youth baseball/softball clinics.
To celebrate this milestone, the Twins Community Fund will offer 50 clinics throughout the Upper Midwest.
The clinic makes a stop in Chanhassen, on Saturday, July 3, at the Chanhassen High School ballpark. The clinic for 6- to 9-year-olds starts at 9 a.m., and the 10- to
16-year-olds clinic begins at 10:30 a.m.
