Chanhassen City Council examines sick pay, vacation compensation

Temperatures rose for short bursts during a discussion Monday examining “compensated absences” for Chanhassen city employees. The Chanhassen City Council reviewed policies covering payments for accrued vacation, sick and comp time given to employees when they complete employment with the city. Similar to comparable cities, Chanhassen employees can accrue vacation time and unused sick time and receive compensation when they retire or depart. ...

Coach Kelli Katherman wanted to give the reserves some playing time in game three Tuesday against Buffalo. That was until the Bison gained a 21-15 advantage. The Chanhassen head volleyball coach inserted the starting lineup and the Storm rolled off 10 of 11 points to close out the sweep 3-0. Average retail gasoline prices in Twin Cities have fallen 13.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.49/gallon yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 7.1 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.53/gallon, according to gasoline price website TwinCitiesGasPrices.com. Maverick Edmunds did everything for Chanhassen on Friday. He had more than 180 yards offense and pulled the Storm within two points on an interception for touchdown. He nearly gave Chanhassen the win with his leg, too. Edmunds' 45-yard field goal as time expired sailed inches wide left as Holy Angels hung on for a 35-33 win over the Storm. A Carver County jury has found Travis Allan Olsen guilty of criminal sexual conduct. The Prior Lake registered sex offender was on trial for allegedly assaulting a 12-year-old girl in Chaska several times between September 2007 and September 2008.
